Daniel Amen, M.D.: 10 Steps to Brain Healthy Eating for the Poor.

Since I’ve been a little low on cash lately, I’ve found that I’ve turned to foods that are not so healthy-grilled cheese, oodles of noodles,  All the crap that turns to sugar in the bod.  At the same time, I’ve been studying about how to  have a healthy brain…good nutrition is at its core.  So, I’ve really realized why poor people (I’m not categorizing myself in that group, because I am rich, rich, rich) stick to 99 cent tacos and spaghettios.

When I saw this article by Dr. Amen, I applauded.  It’s true.  Beans, oatmeal, eggs, water, frozen veggies, etc.  all provide excellent alternatives.  The thing is that eating healthy takes time and planning.  For example, yesterday I bought chicken breast- 5 big breasts- for $5 (on sale).  I cooked them all up last night, so this week-end I’m ready to go.  A bag of beans costs a bit over a dollar-you just have to cook em up in advance.  We’re talking about healthy meals that cost between $1 and $2 per serving.

Hope this helps.

I hope you all enjoyed yesterday’s silly blog about Kimmy’s Top 10 Reasons to Do Yoga Everyday. Gotta mixerrrr up a little, ya know. Break that last ’bout of depression, despair and bullshit with a little humor.

You’ll all be happy to know I’m back on the 5-HTP and my Female Hormonal Support and am feeling much better. Read up on the 5 HTP if you are interested in it-the link I provided list contraindications and dosage levels. It basically helps the body make serotonin and is used by many people in place of Prozac. (Don’t just drop your anti-depressant-that should only be done under your doctor’s care.) The Female Hormonal Support I take contains Black Cohosh, Chamomile, Damiana, Dong Quai, Siberian Ginseng, Passion Flower, and Wild Yam Root. There is controversy as to whether Wild Yam Root naturally replaces progesterone in the body-however, I have had much success with it in various forms. Sometimes I feel there is a conspiracy in this country to raise doubts to the efficacy of alternative care and health. Keep the big boys big. Screw that. We have power too, and as I keep saying lately. We DON’T buy into fear.

I’ve also decided to Detox for 3 days and do on The Zone diet. My body has been so out of whack- bloating, weight gain, and back pain again. So, this morning I ate 3 eggs (only 2 yolks) sautéed with spinach (in a little butter) and almost a whole banana. (Oh, yeah no dairy or breads etc. either.) Then, I took acidophilus and my herbs. I waited two hours and sucked down the most disgusting tasting drink ever-1 tablespoon of Calcium Bentonite (clay) in 8 oz. of water (never use metal utensil with the clay). I thought I was going to throw up it was so bad. I nearly downed the nearby apple cider vinegar that was sitting on the counter, but instead, threw a little in a half a glass of water and downed that just to get the taste out of my mouth. That clay was worse than aloe vera juice, and that shit’s like drinking gasoline. Yum yum. Anyway, after I was over the initial shock of drinking volcanic ash, I starting belching like…well like my mother. She is the best burper I’ve ever heard. (Sorry I outed you ma, but it’s only because I’m proud of you.) It was crazy how much gas it released.

So, I’m doing this Detox with this clay because it removes toxins from your body-it cleans out the bod and your colon and literally all the shit sitting in your intestines. It will make you poop out metals, viruses, bad bacteria and even that gum you swallowed when you were eight. (Ok, not the gum.) It will help the body absorb vitamins and minerals better and just function…well.

So, then the idea is to add the good bacteria into your body by taking the acidophilus. It is vitally important that you take the clay in an empty stomach because other wise it’ll suck up all the stuff you want in there. Timing is critical…and a pain in the ass, but it’s only for 3 days so I can handle it.

So, that’s what I’m up to. And looking for additional work to supplement working at the spa again. I gotta get the dough rolling in. Other people are absorbing my financial responsibilities right now (Bryan and Rob), and I don’t like it. So, I place my hands together in prayer position and KNOW that money and more work is a comin’. It’s here now. It’s mine.

Love to you and all the universe.

Namaste.

Kimmy’s top ten reasons to do yoga everyday:

10. Celebrities do it.
Maybe this should be number one. The power we give to celebrities in mind-numbing, but if it helps us adopt a healthier, more healthy life-style, then what the heck. Thanks Madonna for being such a stellar role-model! LOL.

9. It releases unwanted gas.
I highly recommend this pose before any date.

8. People will think you are spiritual.
Yogadaytoday.com conducted a survey to understand why some people are inhibited from practicing yoga. The survey indicates that an overwelming 57% of people survey think that it involves mantra and chanting that are about worship. So, you can be conniving, soul-less son of a bitch, but if you practice yoga, people will THINK you are on the path to enlightenment.

7. You can easily camouflage yourself in a forest.
No description needed.
6. Your sex life will improve.
That’s impressive, if you know what I mean.

5. It’s so easy, a baby can do it.
Many people are intimidated by advanced yoga poses. (Like the ones shown above.) But really, now. If babies can do it, so can you.

4. It’s so easy, even dogs can do it.
Gotta love yogadogz and their yoga dogs. Don’t let a dog out-yoga you!

3. You can do it with a partner.
Whoa.

2. You can defy gravity.
Everyone would love to be able to fly! Superman would have nothing on you! Except for the tights and cape.

1. Yogi Bear could be your guru.
You could learn over 500 ways to unsuccessfully steal a picnic basket and learn how to have the cutest sidekick in town.

I realized yesterday that I’ve been angry. Angry at everybody. Probably clear in my latest blogs.
I’m not even sure why. Stressed out and not feeling well. Or is it not feeling well and stressed out.

I’m having a difficult time keeping a positive attitude. My mind just feels upset. I do my affirmations and feel fine, but then just go to a depressed state. I do my meditations and yoga and do it very half heartedly. Actually, probably I’m doing it all very half heartedly. Going through the motions.

My mother thinks I need therapy. I think I need a job. And my 5 HTP supplements and hormonal herbs. I haven’t taken them for almost two weeks for no clear reason and am suddenly having a much more difficult time with everything. So, I’ll go pop the pills tonight.

My coach told me something that intrigued me today. She said that to create new neural pathways in the brain that it is helpful to do something you’ve never done before…like learn a language, or bungee jump. That helps solidify the new pathways you’re creating. So, I’m going to try that. I need something tangible like that to do. I feel like I’ve plateaued. Maybe this will help. Not sure what yet, but it sounds good to me.

Had to laugh hysterically over yesterday’s blog, “If you’re not a part of the solution, then shut the F up.” No hiding how I feel there. No spiritual goodie goodie candy sweet dripping goo to hide behind.

So, it was a little harsh sounding, but I really feel that way. So many people, like my Pepsi swilling, all-day TV watching neighbors, feel they can spew out and criticize whomever they want without lifting a damn finger to make a change. His deep, penetrating voice cuts through walls, window screens and glass to reach my sleeping and meditating ears. But all he does is sit there all f-ing day long watching The Price is Right and crap like that. Yeah, they can say whatever they want, freedom of speech and all, but with any freedom a little “plug-in” is a necessity. It’s called responsibility.

So, on that note, here’s some great websites that concern volunteerism and charity. If you want a different world, start with YOURSELF.

http://www.charityguide.org
http://www.brothersbrother.org
http://www.soles4souls.org

And for my millions of die-hard follower, ahem, I’m keepin’ on. Will be starting some actual yoga classes next week. Am hoping they’ll help take me to the next level. Great pulsing in my meditation last night, and am looking forward to a new assignment from my coach!

I need to address a Facebook post by a high school friend of mine:

“Shame on you America: the only country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed without eating, elderly going without needed meds, and mentally ill without treatment – yet we have a benefit for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations. 99% of people won’t have the guts to copy and repost this.-Don’t g……et at me I just copied…no go ahead “get at me” cuz I have a few words about it!”

I replied, “Why can’t we help both? I do. We’re all a part of the same race- the human race.”

I don’t understand this thinking and I don’t wish to. Someone’s compassion bone got broke and never healed. Yes. People here in America need help too, but is that really a reason why we shouldn’t help others? Take care of our own and fuck the rest?! When Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana, Mississippi and the rest, Americans responded, helped and took care of their own. Other countries came to our aid as well.

There are churches, soup kitchens, welfare and many, many organizations that help people in need in this country. It’s not a perfect system, but America is trying to care of her own. Does that mean we can’t help others? Are American’s really more deserving than the rest of the world?

Spirit lives in all of us no matter our race, gender, sexual orientation or nationality. We need to reach across borders and help all of those in need AND help our brothers and sisters here at home. Patriotism that turns its cheek on any one in need divides spirit. I don’t have room for it.

I wonder if she actually ever helped her fellow American. If you’re not a part of the solution…shut the F up.

Can I say Namaste after that?

Namaste.

So how many of you feel like a failure when you “work” The Law of Attraction and all that you’ve focused on still doesn’t manifest in your life? Yeah, me, me, me, me, me. It’s been four months, and I’m still having crying breakdowns and little money in the bank. And what about you? Have you lost that weight yet or gotten that promotion? Have you attracted the love of your life?

Sometimes I think that aspects of The Law of Attraction give me more reason to blame myself for a crappy life. I feel more pressure to be a perfectionist and have it all together. Man, everyone can see how much I hate myself because I am not living my dreams. It’s all my fault I’m in this predicament. Does this ring true for any of you?

What I do love about The Law of Attraction is that it gives us our power back and God knows that we haven’t had power over our lives for a long time. Church and religion manipulated our very thoughts; oppression and fear will do that. You mean I can change my life? GOODY! The problem, however, is for those of us who are perfectionists and give it our all and are still coming up short. I give myself an A+ for effort, and a D on the mid-term, and I blame myself for all my misery, which makes me more miserable.

So what does this mean?

It means that the purpose in working The Law of Attraction isn’t to get all the shit you ever wanted. It isn’t to look at what you have attracted or not attracted as a measure of success. As a matter of fact, all that’s a bunch of bull shit. Judging yourself and being hard on yourself will simply take you further away from your true essence. The importance of working The Law of Attraction is that it allows you to have a better life along the way to your destination. There are several aspects of working The Law of Attraction that will help you be happier. Period.

Positive thinking and affirmations will shift your thinking. According to The Law of Attraction this will allow you to attract things in your life that match the energetic vibration of your thoughts. However, it will also allow you to enjoy the present moment. It is hard to be unhappy when you choose to think more positively. So, don’t do it for the future and what you will have. Do it for the NOW. That is all we have anyway. Further, when we think in a more positive way, we will react to any crap that does come our way in a manner that brings us more lightheartedness than heart ache. It is hard to react poorly when we are concentrating in a higher vibrational frequency. And if we do, oh well. Pick yourself up and try try again. We’re in school. We haven’t graduated to guru yet.

Grateful living that embodies the emotion of appreciation will tell the universe that you are abundant and full of wonderful things. This in turn will bring you MORE wonderful things. This is true according to The LOA. Straight up, living with gratitude will humble you and allow you to feel more connected to others. You will find that you will bring much joy to your relationships and they will flourish because people will feel valued. Living with gratitude fills your life with love.

As you start to think about what you do want in your life and work with all your gusto to attract it into your life with all the techniques I’ve talked about or others have shown you, you will come in contact with your passions and your true self. You will begin to focus on your greatest purpose. There is no time that you are closer to your true essence as when you are living your true purpose and expressing your honest self. Be prepared, however. It might not be what you thought it was. Be flexible to discover your truth. It is not an act of becoming that purpose, but in uncovering and revealing that true-self. This is the true beauty.

So, yes. I have been hard on myself for not attracting all that I want in my life yet. I know you are hard on yourself too. We usually are. But blame has no place in working with The Law of Attraction. Working it is not to attract that end desire.

Working The LOA is spiritual, pure and simple. And keep on, keepin on. It’s a way of life.

Namaste.
